The BBC has designed a beta programme for its iPlayer app on Android system. It enables the Android users to be on trails to experience its new features before being released.
To experience the iPlayer new features, the Android users must be running Android 4.1 or onwards. However, not all the sign-ups will have access to this new programme as BBC only offers the opportunity to the first 1,000 sign-ups. To those who want to experience it before launching, they need to step up the pace to register.
To join in the beta programme, the Android can visit the app’s page on the Google Play store and select the “become a tester” option to gain the chance for testing.
The current beta version of BBC iPlayer has not much difference from its standard edition. But the technical team upgraded its video playback and an intergrated player for catch-up content and adds a “Feedback” button for users to report bugs.
Regarding to download the beta app, BBC doesn’t set limitation to the number of Android devices. The users can exit the app by clicking a button.
The company might be updated the beta programme to Beeb for the iOS and Kindle Fire users in the future. Hoever, beta programme is only available to Android users at present.
Updating the product features would help the companies to enhance its horizontal ompetitiveness. There is tendency for the users to use the latest version of some app.
